EWERTON TEIXEIRA WINS K-1 JAPAN 2008 !

   Only two months after his debut in K-1, current Kyokushin Karate World Champion Ewerton Teixeira, won his first title in this formula of fight. On June 29 in Fukuoka's K-1 Japan Grand Prix, Brazilian won with the following Japanese fighters: Tsutomu Takahagi, Tsuyoshi Nakasako and Keijiro Maeda. Winning this tournament Teixeira became the 3rd non-Japanese champion in the history of K-1 Japan. Before only Nicholas Pettas and Bob Sapp achieved that. 
   On the same day two world champion title fights took place. In superheavy weight Jerome Le Banner challenged Semmy Schilt, and in heavy weight Glaube Feitosa challenged Badr Hari. In both fights the champions (Schilt and Hari) defended their titles.
   Shihan Seiji Isobe and Shihan Francisco Filho, who were present in Fukuoka said many complimentary words about the brazilian World Champion. Ichigeki Academy coaches, Faii Falamoe and Jayson Vemoa said "this boy learns really fast".

   The next tournament - K-1 Asia Grand Prix will take place on July 13 in Taiwan, where Kyokushin will be represented by Alexandr Pichkunov


FRENCH INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR VOSGES MOUNTAINS 2008

On 8th to 10th of May in Vosges Mountains (France) French International Seminar took place. The event gathered more then 110 students from 9 countries. The fighting trainings were lead by Sensei Lucian Gogonel (World Champion and 6 times European Champion) and Sempai Kentaro Aso (Japanese Top 32 in the WC 2007). The whole seminar was lead by shihan Bertrand Kron, shihan Egberth Thomas and shihan Eric Constancia.


INTERNATIONAL AUSTRIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS VIENNA 2008

   On June 15 in Vienna, The International Austrian Kyokushin Karate Championships took place. 244 competitors from the following countries: Austria, Czech R., Bulgaria, Germany, Holland, Poland, Slovakia and Serbia, took part in the event.
   Organiser was Austrian Kyokushin Karate Organisation, led by Sensei Marek Kubek. Main Judge was Sensei Roman Keska.

25TH JAPAN WEIGHT CATEGORY CHAMPIONSHIPS OSAKA 2008

   On June 14-15 The 25th All Japan Weight Category Championships were held in Furitsu Taikukan Hall in Osaka. Tournament which was organised by IKO Kyokushinkaikan gathered over 200 competitors and couple thousands of spectators.
   Main Judge was Kancho Shokei Matsui.



22ND EUROPEAN WEIGHT CATEGORY CHAMPIONSHIPS VITORIA 2008

On 24 May 2008 in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain) The 22 European Weight Category Championships took place. 125 competitors from 22 countries took part in the event, which was organised by Spanish Kyokushin Karate Organisation.
Kancho Shokei Matsui (IKO President), Shihan Katsuhito Gorai (IKO General Secretary) and Shihan Loek Hollander (IKO International Committee Member) were the special guests, as well as the EKKO Board members: Shihan Antonio Pinero (President), Shihan Ton Von Rijn (Vice-President), Shihan Andre Drewniak (General Secretary) and Sensei Christoph Fischer (Treasurer).
Organiser of the Championships was Shihan Jose Luis Lezkano. Main judge was Shihan Antonio Pinero.
On the day after the championships, a special training open for all EKKO Country Representatives, instructors and students, was lead by Shihan Katsuhito Gorai and Shihan Antonio Pinero. Kancho Shokei Matsui was observing the participants, but could not join the training himself, recovering from his leg surgery.
